The Strand Historic District – 25 mins

Galveston's Historic Strand District, or The Strand, is the heart of the island and a great place to shop, dine and be entertained.The Strand is a National Historic Landmark that harkens back to Galveston's heyday in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Many of the buildings here are more than a century old, stunning in their detail and craftsmanship. Storefronts here are a mix of antique shops, art galleries, souvenir shops and more. The Strand is also home to an assortment of restaurants, from Mexican to seafood.

Seawolf Park - 25 mins

Located on Galveston's Pelican Island, Seawolf Park boasts one of the island's most popular fishing piers and picnic sites. The park also features a playground for the kids and plenty of tourist attractions, including the WWII submarine, the USS Cavalla, and one of only three destroyer escorts, the USS Stewart. The remains of the WWI tanker S.S. Selma, the largest concrete ship constructed, can be seen northwest of Seawolf Park's fishing pier.
